Maysa Construction

Kennington Park and Kennington Green, London, SE11

Maysa Construction were building two ‘Head Houses’ to provide an aethestically pleasing cover to mechanical engineering and ventillation equipment required above large ventilation shafts, built above the northern line extension.

Both buildings had the same “fin” detail that required an invisible method of support and also an off site method for the complicated “starter” unit at the base as well as a “termination units” at the top with an exposed brick soffit and invisble means of support.

The starter and termination units were designed as brick faced precast components with special internal “tubes” to allow stainless steel rods to pass through them up the building through the “fins”. We individually drilled evey brick to allow the rods to pass through and create this unusual detailing feature.
